The human behind Gypsum Hollow, jewelry maker, nature enthusiast, collector of shiny things, and firm believer that life is a little more fun with a touch of magick.

Raised in the hills of West Virginia, I’ve always been drawn to nature and the wonderfully weird things tucked into it. Rocks, mushrooms, curious little creatures, and anything that makes me stop and think, “Ooh, I could make something out of that.” You know, normal things.

My path here wasn’t exactly a straight line. I studied Cultural Anthropology and Sociology at WVU, spent a year studying Nordic culture in Sweden, and earned my bachelor’s degree in 2011. Jewelry design and beading started as a hobby, but after discovering copper electroforming, that hobby quickly grew into something much bigger. Gypsum Hollow was born in January 2017, and shortly after, I took the leap into working for myself full-time. A little scary? Absolutely. Worth it? Without a doubt.

Copper electroforming was where it all began. For five years, I transformed natural treasures and curious little finds into wearable art, giving them new life in copper. Eventually, my curiosity led me to silversmithing, opening up a whole new world of tools and techniques. After a couple of years of doing both, sterling silver took center stage, and it’s been my primary focus for nearly three years now. The roots are still there, even as the work evolves.

These days, I'm all about sterling silver and the endless possibilities that come with working with metal. I've taken workshops and classes along the way, and I've spent nearly five years learning from a mentor who continues to help me grow as a metalsmith. I love experimenting with techniques, playing with textures and impression dies, working with colorful gemstones, and bringing the occasional delightfully oddball idea to life. Some designs are inspired by nature; others come from whatever strange little idea has decided to take up residence in my brain that week.

My goal is to make wearable art that feels special without needing a special occasion. Jewelry to wear every day, stack up, make your own, and use to express those colorful, curious, magical bits of yourself.

Gypsum Hollow has moved around a bit with me, through five home studios across three states. From a little holler in West Virginia to Nashua, New Hampshire, I’ve finally put down roots. I’ve been happily married since October 2023, and life is feeling a little more settled these days. The scenery has changed, but my love for making things by hand (and collecting far too many shiny objects) hasn’t.
